# Why Use Statamic as Your CMS

[Statamic](http://statamic.com/) is a database free CMS that is a pleasure to code templates for and easy for Clients to use for creating, editing and updating web site content. Statamic is a mature CMS with the original release in June 2012 it has now been around for more than 3 years.

I like to use Statamic for smaller sites that don't need all the power of a CMS like ExpressionEngine but still need flexibility and ease of use.

- Fast load times - no database = faster page loads for both the front end and the control panel
- Secure - because Statamic doesn't use a database like most CMSs there is zero risk for a mysql injection attack on the site

- Multi Environment friendly - super easy to work locally and then have your client preview work on a staging site before pushing to the live site
- Version Control - no more hassles with figuring out how to sync the database. All settings are stored in YAML files - push the files and the live site reflects those changes.
- When clients update content you can easily add the content to version control by copying the markdown files locally
- Templating is simple and intuitive - there is no need to know php (I'm looking at you WordPress)
