5 Reasons You Should Get a New Website Design

It's early in 2017 and it may be time to consider redesigning or rebuilding your web site. Should you? Will it help your business? Read the 5 reasons you should rebuild your site here.

1. Your Website Isn't Meeting Your Business Goals

It is important to understand how your current website is achieving, or failing to achieve, your business objectives and goals. At this point you should take stock of your goals and objectively view your website to see if it is in line with what you want.

It's important that your website is designed for your content and goals. Many times businesses purchase a pre-fabricated theme and then attempt to shoehorn their content into that design. For site visitors they see a mixed message or worse the important content and call to actions are hidden away or absent all together.

Here are some questions for you to consider:

  • Is your website attracting new visitors?
  • Are visitors engaged with your content? Can they easily find what they are looking for?
  • Have you looked at your google analytics to track visitors and what they are doing on your site?
  • Does your website have call to actions so that visitors know how to learn more, buy now, or contact you?

2. Innacurate Branding

Does your current site match your company branding? This can be an issue when using pre-fabricated themes or when your company has grown and changed. If this is the case it's time to get a new design that reflects your company branding.

3. Your Website Isn’t Mobile Friendly

Does your site work well on mobile and tablets? Since April 2015 Google has been penalizing sites that are not responsive (mobile friendly). You can test your current site with the Google Mobile-Friendly Test.

A responsive design will make it easier for clients to navigate your site and convert with your call to actions.

4. Keeping Up With Industry and Competitor Changes

Take a look at other websites in your industry and specific competitors. Have they updated their site? Is it performing better in SEO? Is it easier to navigate? Does it provide a better user experience for visitors? If so it may be time for you to update your site as well.

5. Your Existing Website Hasn’t Been Maintained

In addition to having a dated design, when sites have not been maintained for a long time, things can start to change and break down. Features don’t work. Things don’t look quite right. It works on some browsers better than others.

Just like your car needs regular oil changes, various fluids checked and the tires rotated, your web site also needs regular maintenance. Regular maintenance for a website update that the Content Management System (and addons) are up to date. Doing this will reduce security risks.
